The Annual AFL Prevention Grantee Conference
“A Retreat to Examine Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Interventions”
December 1 – December 3, 2009
The Office of Adolescent Pregnancy Programs (OAPP) welcomes Adolescent Family Life (AFL) Prevention grantees to the Hotel Palomar located in Arlington, Virginia for the 2009 Annual AFL Grantee Conference. As the conference theme, "A Retreat to Examine Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Interventions," suggests this conference will examine all aspects of adolescent pregnancy prevention intervention from beginning to end. The conference will also explore innovative strategies to improve services for adolescents and their families. The conference is divided into four targeted educational tracks: Adolescent Health; Project Management; Evaluation; and Research. Each conference topic will build upon the wealth of expertise brought by AFL grantees and help to achieve the overall conference objectives.
Conference Objectives:
- To increase knowledge and strategies which assist in preventing teen pregnancy as well as reduce health related risk behaviors for youth in AFL Prevention Demonstration projects;
- To improve the capacity of AFL Prevention grantees to manage and evaluate AFL Prevention Demonstration projects more effectively; and,
- To increase scientific knowledge of issues related to adolescent pregnancy prevention through research and evaluation dissemination
