New Physical Activity Guidelines for Americans Safe physical activity is an important part of a healthy lifestyle. Even a little exercise may provide substantial health benefits. Of course, the more physically active you are, the more benefits you will reap. The new science-based Physical Activity Guidelines recommend that children and adolescents stay physically active for at least an hour every day. Adults should participate in at least two and one half hours of moderate aerobic physical activity or an hour and 15 minutes of vigorous physical activity each week.

Find an activity that you enjoy doing regularly and that is appropriate for your current fitness level. Gradually increase the intensity and duration of your activity to meet the guidelines and your health goals. Find an activity that works for you!
